Comedy/Short
Boutonniere is the story of a girl who is forced by her mother (Wendi McLendon-Covey, Kath & Kim; Reno 911!) to prepare for a prom she doesn’t want to attend. Zachary Quinto (Star Trek) and Pat Crawford Brown (Desperate Housewives) make cameos in the short comedy. Boutonniere has screened at Sundance and won the award for Best Comedy at the L.A. Shorts Fest.
Student Film (any length)
This short film is produced by a group of Native American Lummi youth and reflects on issues of culture and community that are important to them. They explore the tradition of canoe pulling through interviews with various members of their community. For the Lummi People, canoe-pulling and racing is a means to promote a healthy lifestyle supported by traditional values. This film is a testimony of the revival of the traditional canoe pulling culture and the determination of Lummi youth to take a lead in carrying on this tradition to the next generations.
